The Centers for Disease Control has
stated that 44% to 85% of all diabetic amputations are preventable especially with the implementation
of improved foot care programs.
A few years ago the Jacksonville Foot Health Center opened The Diabetic Foot Wound Center,
a state-of-the-art diagnostic, treatment and prevention
facility for the diabetic foot. |
1. A comprehensive foot examination based on the recommendations
of the American Diabetes Association to eliminate and control
risk factors.
- Tests should include circulation,
neuropathy, biomechanical, musculoskeletal and skin.
- The Center uses the latest
technology available.
2. New concepts in treatment programs:
- The Circulator Boot,
a proven device for helping to cure diabetic ulcers also helps
to eliminate the need for amputation; by increasing circulation
and controlling infection.
- Infrared System (Anodyne
System), treatment especially for neuropathy and other pain
symptoms.
- Wound Care Programs
tailored for the individual. (refer to Circulator Boot and
Microvas)
- Physical Therapy Programs.
- Prevention Programs.
- Custom Shoes and Orthopedics.
